“A living body which connects the land to the sea like a huge heart.” José Saramago (Nobel Prize in Literature 1998)
The colours fill the souls of those who come unprepared. The vibrant glare emerging from the river, just like strands of silver, seem to tell us: “stay, just for a little while longer”.
And we invite you to stay here for a day, in harmony with a city which reveals itself in each street, in each piece of history, in the smells of the market, in the flaps of the Moliceiro, the city’s typical boat. Aveiro is waiting for you. We guide you through the splendor that this city has to reveal and bring you along to taste our salt.
But you can’t leave without tasting our sweet, the first to be distinguished by the European Union as a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), “Ovos Moles de Aveiro” (quite literally, Soft Eggs from Aveiro). We offer you these, delight yourself!
Then, relax and feast your eyes on the scratched tones of the haystacks of Costa Nova; green, blue, red, and yellow… A happy combination facing the sea. A repetition that never tires.
And because everything in this city is joy, color, and brightness, we finish at the Museum of Vista alegre, the porcelain excellence known all over the world.
It’s just a day, it’s true, but you’ll leave the city with a full heart.
Finally, back to Porto, we invite you to a sensory journey across the country through aromas and flavours; premium olive oils from all different regions of Portugal, and lastly, a 10-year-old Port Wine, aged in oak casks.
Cheers; these are on us.
