We start in a city embedded in the Tâmega River Vale, in harmony with the magnificence of all the monuments that inhabit it. We walk through streets brimming with the past, a granite hamlet typical of this região.
Slowly, while cherishing the river, we cross the bridge towards the Church of São Gonçalo. We linger here for a little longer for its eye-filling architectural beauty, concluding this historic circuit at the Municipal Museum Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso.
Before we head out, let us delight ourselves with the various monastic sweets unique to this city.
On the road again, we get lost among the breathtaking landscapes, as the Upper Douro Wine Region, classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 2001, leaves no one indifferent. Exclamations aren’t to be saved before such a unique and singular beauty.
In Pinhão, in one of the many farms embedded down the hill, we can appreciate the vineyards spread through the terraces, and, if you so desire, taste Port Wine in its birthplace, getting your palate ready for lunch.
On the way back, you can live a unique experience, travelling through the road rated as the best road to drive in the world, a mathematical relationship between straight and curved lines which we can feel, even if we can’t really understand their grandeur.
Passing by Resende, we visit the Caldas de Aregos Bathhouses, and in Cinfães, the Chapel of São Pedro do Campo, before resuming our trip back to Porto. Relax, the rest of the trip is to be carried out slowly.
Finally, back to Porto, we invite you to a sensory journey across the country through aromas and flavours; premium olive oils from all different regions of Portugal, and lastly, a 10-year-old Port Wine, aged in oak casks.
