We start our visit in the Batalha Monastery… utterly amazed by it. After all, this monument is classified as one of the seven wonders of Portugal. Just looking isn’t enough to encompass the grandeur of the monastery, you will need all your senses for it. Dazzled by what you see on the outside, awed by its inner richness, you can assign the proper value to the meaning of the word victory. The Portuguese victory in the Battle of Aljubarrota, which guaranteed the independence of our country by ensuring the throne to King John I. Enjoy and rejoice in the great achievements of a country.
We’re in a city which is currently one of the biggest religious tourism destinations in the world. Visited by everyone, even by those to whom faith isn’t the most relevant reason. The worship, the grandeur of a faith that moves about 6 million visitors per year!
In Fátima, silence reigns alongside with Christian worship. Here, it is impossible to remain indifferent to what surrounds and happens to us. To look and feel, not just for us, but for those who walk by us. Let it be, time has stopped, urgency has no place in Fátima. And when you leave, let your words rest, for today, you won’t have use for them.
Finally, back to Porto, we invite you to a sensory journey across the country through aromas and flavours; premium olive oils from all different regions of Portugal, and lastly, a 10-year-old Port Wine, aged in oak casks.
Cheers; these are on us.
